The 2011 Albums Thread
« on: November 07, 2010, 04:18:49 am »
To date, the two Spc-Eco EPs, Silver Clouds and Out Of The Sky, were released via internet download only. We fans have finally convinced Dean Garcia to release them on some sort of tangible format. From what I could surmise, after a talk with a label he's going to work with, it looks like he's going to take my suggestion and release them together as 1 full CD but that remains to be seen. Could be any possible combination but expect to see them sometime in early 2011.

Deep Cut have a new album coming out soon. It's mastered but still needs all the pressing and after recording work done. Expect maybe early 2011 or so.

Deep Cut is Mat Flint's band who was once the main force behind Revolver.

HAHAHA!!!!! I wouldn't dare hold my breath on that one. Not even the remasterd (or was it remixed?) version of Loveless that was promised and even presold on Amazon, what?, two years ago! SUCKERS.

Kevin Shields: the Master of Delay.

The Decemberists have a new one coming out in January. One song is available for download from their site.

Nicole Atkins also has a release coming out in January.

I'll bet at least 50% of all active bands put out an album in 2011. Listing them all here would be futile.

Nah.

It seems like the norm is every 2-3 years now. Plus, the longer a band has been around the longer the time in between albums.

I can't believe in the late 60s and early 70s bands were releasing albums less than a year after the previous.

You may think the Beatles are the best example of this, but the Beatles suck.

The Smiths released four albums, seventeen singles (EIGHT of which were non-album stand alones) and two compilations in less than four years.  3 years, 10 months to be exact.  Next to the Bible, the greatest story ever told.  Johnny Marr was only 23 when they broke up.
