Given your description, it sounds like they chose the perfect band name.

I never liked the theatrics of the Decemberists, so naturally I think their new album is a vast improvement. They'd sound even better with a different lead vocalist.

So, the Yuck record is all sorts of fantastic so far.

Like...every great 1990's indie-rockism rolled into one album.

listening to the new "concept thing" by the knife.  an opera dedicated to darwin and his origin of species.  uhmm, this will take some getting used to.

Do the lesser parts of the opera gradually die off only for the power chords to evolve and strengthen to eventually take over the world? After all, that is often the basic progression of lots of songs. You get that build up to a crescendo with some sort of dénouement. Consider it a sort of musical natural selection.

That is a 2010 release.

And yes, a challenging one.

Awesome!
Meanwhile I'm listening to this new record by a fresh band called Animal Collective and get this, they named it after Merriweather Post Pavillion or something of that nature! Now I've seen everything!

The Dirtbombs do Detroit Techno

Detroit is due for another revival ever since Jack White left the Motor City for dead or perhaps Detroit does it to itself, but the glaring issue remains
that we must never forget about Detroit. The Dirtbombs' Ultraglide in Black was a retrospective covers celebration of Detroit soul, RB and of course, Motown.
The band is back on its celebration style to resurrect Detroit techno out of its urban decay.

Dirtbombs frontman Mick Collins is a nostalgiaist. In reworking Detroit classics in live instrumentation, his adjustments put little twists on the originals.
For instance, "Shari Vari" sounds less like a fuzzed-out and pulsating rhythm machine and more like a sleek German post-punk track that makes you ponder,
"what if Gang of Four were from Berlin?" Party Store will feature the refashioning of early Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May classics. Carl
Craig even lent modular synthesizer programming to The Dirtbombs' epic 21-minute reworking of "Bug In The Bassbin".

Party Store is out February 1 on
In The Red.

Just saw this today and very excited about it coming out... Fav Techno Tracks given the Dirtbomb treatment!

I feel as though this press release needs to be shared with everybody.
(I have no idea what this band sounds like)

Description from label: "Abigail have returned with their fourth album. Entitled ?Sweet Baby Metal Slut,? this album continues in the style Abigail began
exploring on ?Forever Street Metal Bitch? and further refined on ?Ultimate Unholy Death.? Playing a style that sounds like a syphilitic union of Bathory,
G.G. Allin, and Destruction, Abigail reach new lows of perversion and degeneracy. Abigail understand that, while some may find Satan through arcane ritual,
one may also find Him in the immoral stench of fresh pussy. ?Sweet Baby Metal Slut? is the ultimate culmination of Abigail?s recent work and represents
the perfection of their indulgence in insane and Satanic lust. "
