The world got a little bit worse with the writing of that song.

Dennis: Diet soda?

Kid: I dunno.

Dennis: Do I look like I need to be on a diet?

Kid: I dunno.

Dennis: Terrible. Take a lap.

wtf is all i have to say.  99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 percent of those bands are either hardcore indie/alternative or some various variant of the scene.  maybe not coldplay or which ever marley kid is trying to rip off the old man's name this time, but a solid amount of bands at this thing cater to the youth who like the "weirdo music."

and then eminem?  who the fuck invited him?  what, the festival doesn't have a big enough simpelton would be rapists who enjoy beating up people who they think are fags crowd?

schedule is out: http://lineup.lollapalooza.com/events/2011/08/05/

closing out the festival on sunday: headlining sets by foo fighters vs... deadmau5.

i give the festival props for publishing a schedule so far in advance.  kinda nice, instead of the usual gig of learning 2 days before the festival starts.

the first one in '04 or '05 was the best.

the first one was in 1991.  i thought the second was the best: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube, Soundgarden, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush.

That SUCKS. I met one of the guys in the band when I was out in Portland and he was a really, really nice guy. I feel bad for them.

My capsule review of this year....

Good stuff:
Muse
MMJ
White Lies
Joy Formidable
Mayer Hawthorne
POBPAH

OK stuff:
Arctic Monkeys
Foster the People
Two Door Cinema Club
Manchester Orchestra
The Cars

Can't believe I watched:
Cee-Lo
A Perfect Circle

Perry Farrell said that he wants to make it more dance-centric every year.  Not really sure how I feel about that.  I guess that's what the kids are into these days.

But one thing that made me wonder...I bolted before the Foo Fighters set to walk around a bit and saw a little of this and that until I ended up at the other end of the field where Deadmau5 was "playing".  I'm not going to editorialize one way or the other on him, but how can so many people treat Daft Punk like gods and at the same shit all over this?  From the bit that I watched it was essentially the same racket.
