Killers/Keane Rollcall
« on: June 08, 2005, 08:16:00 am »
So who is making the trek to the burbs to see the mini IMPfest tonight?  The most interesting act of the evening is Maximo Park who are playing earlish...

I'll be DJing in 9:32 from when doors open at 5pm until Keane hits the stage, so swing by for several cold drinks and fun tunes.  Was cherry picking tracks from the Stiff and Nuggets boxsets this morning. So expect Department S, Wreckless Eric, The Move, The Easybeats, plus The Soft Boys, Do Me Bad Things, De Novo Dahl, Nic Armstrong, Prefab Sprout, Delgados, David Holmes etc, etc,

last time i was there (radiohead a couple years ago), it took me more than 2 hours (no joke) from adams morgan

i've vowed never to return unless it's some crazy must-see band .......... like maximo park!!! see you there!!!!

jk, but i would try to get out of work early if i were you and skip the rush hour traffic, i'm sure it won't be a nightmare like my experience, but there will be plenty of gridlock

I'll be there and early, hopefully, so keep one cold for me, Kosmo. Is the 932 easy to find?  Never "done" Merriweather before so I'm the newbie on the scene.    :D

Holy cow - Did this show sellout?  I just tried TM and couldn't bring up any tickets.

count on an hour+... by then the beltway will be in fullon creep mode, you could take randolph to 29 but that will be slow going as well with all the freaking lights.   taking 29N from the beltway might save some time, but during rush hour it's so hard to predict anything...

one way to potential save time is to take the alternative route from DC as listed on the Merriweather website.  I did this for Neil Young and drove right into the parking lot and bypassed the bottleneck at 29 and Broken Land Parkway.

Take DC Beltway 495 to I-95 North towards Baltimore.
Pass exit 38B, go two more exits.
 Exit onto Route 100 West.
 Proceed to Route 29 South.
Turn right onto South Entrance Road.
Turn left onto Symphony Woods Road.
 Follow to Main Parking Area.

yup it's next to the lawn, look to your right when facing the pavillion.  it's the black structure with 9:32 banners hanging across the front.

Bombay: I had the same problem on TM with the Oasis/Jet/Kasabian show...it told me it had no tickets; and it's NOT sold out.  I'd suggest trying to phone 'em.

Hoya:  I'd have endured two hours in that horrible traffic for Radiohead.  That  must have been their last US tour?  Lucky guy!

To Sonic and Jag and anyone else from up north; Rt 695 west was backed up - DEAD STOP - for fifteen miles last night at 1:00 a.m. due to construction.  You may want to take another route home if you're goin' that way after tonight's MPP show! Thank God I was going East   - and in typical fashion - traffic was going about 95 MPH thru work zones...Totally WHACK!

you and hoya went to the Radiohead concert together?

and about the traffic,  i never get on 695 on a weeknight after 9pm, cause they are ALWAYS jerking something around.

luckily, i dont need the beltway to get to work, Philly, or any other place i go a lot.  :)
