That was a great HFStival. Social D, New York Dolls, Garbage, Interpol and They Might Be Giants were also there. Echo & The Bunnymen's antics were ridiculous and lame. I do remember they came on dressed in all black leather or something during the hottest n' sunniest part of the day. Then it got cloudy and rained as if they made the weather itself depressed.

Not true at all.  If the Echo and the Bunnymen were a reliable band most likely they would not have played the Black Cat last time they came through town.  They would have been at the 930 club.  And I am sure they would have charged at least 35 bucks.

Funny about that HFStival. I saw them 2 nights before in Philly at TLA and it was one of the best shows I've seen them do. It was blazing. And Ian blew his voice out in the encore. They played Lancaster the next night, and by Baltimore Ian had NO voice to sing. He tried. Twice. And it didn't work out. And yes, they did play the 9:30 last time, it sold out, and I loved every minute. Echo is still a great live band and I'll go see them at the Fillmore.

that was indeed a great show....i was so pumped to see echo + the bunnymen, so was disappointed about that whole thing.  but billy idol was fucking great.

Interpol seemed totally disinterested, but I remember They Might Be Giants played "Fingertips", which was a riot. I loved the NY Dolls and thought Social D was great. That was a solid lineup.

Garbage was pretty awesome.  Too bad we don't have festivals with line-ups that good anymore.

the weather wasn't depressed, it was angry.  it was a major thunderstorm.  they evacuated the bowl, telling everyone to seek shelter insider.  echo upset the concert gods.
