so Le Guess Who? was pretty great. My only complaint was that there was some overlap of people I wanted to see and there was just no way to make it happen, several of the venues were a 30+ minute walk from the main venue (which was insane....it basically had 2 930 club sized venues in it, and 2 black cat sized ...all in one building) - for example I wanted to see both Prurient and Cut Hands but there was overlap and they were 2 miles apart. I choose Prurient, and boy did I choose poorly. Dude had a breakdown on stage, played 20 minutes out of his 40 minute slot.....was having tons of equipment problems. What can you do.
I managed to see: Swans, Wire, Ben Frost, Savages / Bo Ningen, Prurient, Sir Ricahrd Bishop, Xylouris White, Okkyung Lee, Leaftcutter John, Autechre, Einsturzende Neubauten, Selda (!!), St. Vincent, Tune-Yards, Suuns & Jerusalem In My Heart, Baba Zula, William Basinski, Stephen O'Malley, Tim Hecker
Swans were incredible as always....highlights for me were: Savages / Bo Ningen performing 'Words to the Blind' - it was simply incredible, Swans (my favorite band sooo...) and Ben Frost. Einsturzende were great, but I'm not really into concept albums..and that is what they played.
I kind of fell in love with the Netherlands. I had been to Amsterdam before....but this felt more like the 'real' holland. Managed to visit Amersfoort + Rotterdam as well.
