Tonight was my first time seeing Jack White live.  The show had a slightly odd, almost lurching quality in terms of pacing and tonal shifts, and it ended one or two songs too soon (the encore called out for an "Icky Thump" or "Steady, as She Goes" finale), but I enjoyed myself.

Not sure how I feel re:  the cell-phone ban.  It certainly didn't create any immense, in-the-moment energy in the crowd in general, which only truly sprang to life for "Seven Nation Army."

I concur with all of that; and I too would've loved Steady.

Great poster though.

You're lying. Without evil, evil cell phones allowing people to video songs, the artist-to-patron connection was so strong, 6,000 people orgasmed continuously for 90 minutes. This messageboard has ensured me that no concert is enjoyable if another patron has the audacity to use a cell phone during it.

How did the phone bag thing work post-show?  Did you have to get on a line, or do the bags automatically unlock?  Wondering if I should leave the phone in my car or bring it with me.  Thanks.

They don't automatically unlock.
Mine actually never was actually locked, which i figured out when the Pin that is supposed to lock it poked into the palm of my hand. Ouch.
But the line to unlock looked swift and easy on the way out. Bring it with you.

super easy...they have this magnet circle thing that the Staph had at the exits
1 click, you pull you phone out and deposit the bag in the bins
probably added some time, but if you didn't bring your phone...there isn't a no phone exit, so you'll get caught in the same line

And Icky Thump too (though of course he closed with 7 Nation Army).  I might have just been in a bad mood, but it was kind of a joyless concert for me.  I hesitate to say this, but I actually could have done with a bit more Jack White guitar virtuoso/noodling.

As in, did someone from this board actually attend the performance?

Unless there are some very underaged kids on this board or a teacher, not sure how that would be possible.

It was nice to have no phones last night during show...it did not slow anything down and the patrons I talked to loved it....people exited to learn Caps had won
