We're driving home from the baseball game today, and my five year old asks, "Is December 1 going to be on Saturday again this year?"

Which provided the opportunity to explain that if it were on Saturday last year it would be on Sunday this year, unless it was a leap year.

But how the hell did she know it was on a Saturday? Because indeed it was. I asked her and she said "Because I remember December 2 was on a Sunday, so December 1 must have been a Saturday."

Not surprising...alcoholism is so rampant in the former soviet union it's sad.  South Korea and the US are the big surprises for me on that list.
