The Republicans best chance would seem to be nominating a moderate African-American or Latino candidate. Bonus points if that candidate is a woman.

Who would be a "non-Dog" the Republicans could nominate? The GOP base is middle-aged white men and elderly white men at this point. A lot is going to be made of the GOP winning house and Senate seats in the mid-terms, but raw numbers will show that's only because of gerrymandering and more people will vote for the Democrats nationally overall yet again. Who are the Republicans going to run that can survive the Republican primaries and have a chance in hell at not alienating 55% of voters in the general election?

Sure, if Hillary Clinton were a Republican, the Republicans could win. If zombie-JFK were a Republican, the Republicans could win. If the resurrected Jesus Christ were return to earth, cure diseases and feed the sick, end all wars, and then turn his attention to politics, and become a Republican, he could win.

Can we keep the conversation to actual, current Republican politicians?

I am saying I think she has a better chance than Hillary in a general election (less divisive; less baggage).  Of course, the GOP could nominate a real dog, in which case, either could win.
