Welcome to the new forum
don't, you agree, that if the article, begins with, fox news, it is a created well written piece of purist propaganda meant to create an emotional state that conforms with the need to feel that mistrust is ok within the system?
Did some poking around and it appears Sidehatch is right on this one.Though the prices for standing and seated used to be the same, it appears that most or all of the current shows on the calendar have a higher price for seating. In regard to standing in front:Please note that there will be a dance floor for this show and the front row of tables will be cleared out. Be advised that there may be some seated areas where vision of the stage may be obstructed. **** Ticket price includes a champagne toast and gumbo dinner.FYI: Old 97's did do an appearance at Iota one time. I didn't go, but I remember readind that it was more of a listening party for a new album (where they actually showed up...not sure if they played). So Sidehatch is sort of right on saying theay they've only played shows at 9:30. Rhett Miller has played solo shows at a number of local venues.I think I'll sit this one out and wait for the next 9:30 Club show.Sorry I'm too lazy to move this to commentary thread.Quote from: bekessler on October 14, 2014, 09:53:53 amQuote from: Sidehatch on October 14, 2014, 09:24:18 amOld 97's doing two nights @ The Hamilton Live12/30 & 31 (nye with the texas boys)First time the've come to town and not play the 930Don't really love that venue because of all the seatswhat is nice is you can buy the cheaper standing room seats then go down to the tiny dance floor and stand in front of the people who paid for the seats in the front More often than not the tickets are the same price and there are tables all the way towards the stage on the dance floor. Wouldn't assume that you'll be able to stand in front -- worth checking first.

Feminist media critic Anita Sarkeesian was forced to cancel a talk that would have taken place tonight at Utah State University after the university received a terror threat from someone claiming they would commit ?the deadliest school shooting in American history? if Sarkeesian gave her lecture. The threat, e-mailed to Utah State staff by someone purporting to be a student, stated, ?I have at my disposal a semi-automatic rifle, multiple pistols, and a collection of pipe bombs,? according to the Standard Examiner. The letter-writer warned of an attack like the Montreal massacre targeting lecture attendees, faculty, staff and the university?s women?s center and claimed university efforts to step up security would be fruitless.?One way or another, I?m going to make sure they die,? the letter-writer claimed.Sarkeesian is a blogger and critic who founded the Web site Feminist Frequency, where she discusses sexist and misogynistic tropes in video games and critiques gamer culture. As escalating threats of death and rape marked Sarkeesian?s tenure as a video game vlogger, she?s been adamant about not allowing them to silence her.The Utah State threat is just the latest one in the ongoing saga of Gamergate, an increasingly nasty culture war between video-game critics like Sarkeesian and a mob of gamers. (See this post by the Post?s Caitlin Dewey for more.) Sarkeesian isn?t the only woman who has received death threats in connection with Gamergate. On Friday, game developer Brianna Wu left her home after alerting police that she received a death threat that included her home address. Zoe Quinn, an independent developer who was the original target of Gamergate, was also forced to leave her home because of death threats. In August, the threats grew so severe that Sarkeesian was forced to flee her home too.
