Today, I was in a Wawa, availing myself to their conveniences, and I was semi-shocked to hear "A Hard Day's Night" playing. Not a cover; not another song with the same name; the fucking Beatles. That's God-tier music you don't normally hear in a store, much less a gas station. What's going on? Just another revenue stream for the band? Will we start to hear other God-tier acts soon? Is that already happening?

The rest of the music was pretty standard: Pat Benatar "Hit Me" and Freddy Cannon "Palisades Park".

Didn't Michael Jackson buy the Beatles catalog or something?

Yes, but that's the compositions, not the recordings.

I love Noel but think Liam is literally the worst frontman ever. He just stands immobile glaring at everyone.

Saw them at Patriot center when Ryan Adams opened and I had a great seat close up.

Oasis ain’t nothing but hype. I guess they never been anything else….

I was at that show.  I think Matt Costa went on before Ryan Adams.

Counterpoint- Oasis at Chicago Metro 1994.

And Liam here is actually kind of endearing. Kind of a nerdy distillation of the loose swagger of Ian Brown and  the inert charisma of Ozzy . . .riding hypnotic grooves and massive waves, Grace under pressure.

I saw them once, at Patriot Center in 96 and found it kind of boring. MacCarroll was gone, entropy already felt like it was setting in. Like GNR post Adler

That whole drum channel is quite entertaining... just watched the megadeath/killers episode.

agreed.  what a great concept: have a drummer improv a part upon first listen.  i wonder if there are any attempts that got left on the cutting room floor, i.e. the drummer couldn't pull together something decent.  i have to imagine the drummer has right of refusal (aka veto on airing a shitty attempt).

another interesting entry in the series: Metal Drummer Hears Led Zeppelin For The First Time.  what's interesting in this vid is that the drummer records a spoken "cue track" for himself with instructions on what's coming up, etc. and they play it along with his final take (also his first!).  i found it cool to get an insight into his thinking.

Very cool.  Bigger question is how a metal drummer hasn't listened to every Bonham song available.
