Recently encountered someone on Twitter who claimed a word wasn't a word (don't remember the word). I responded that it was in the OED. He responded "Source?". Amateur.

well i was hoping with David Holmes producing we would get at least a half decent Primal Scream he was present for XTRMNTR, but this review of what turns out to essentially a Bobby G. solo album is absolutely brutal.

https://thequietus.com/quietus-reviews/primal-scream-come-ahead-review/

Primal Scream
Come Ahead

With Bobby Gillespie virtually the sole surviving member, Primal Scream offer diminished returns, writes lapsed fan JR Moores

some highlights

Let’s face it, Primal Scream’s strongest moments have been those when Gillespie was hardly in the foreground. No one remembers Screamadelica on account of his (occasional) vocals. There were long instrumental passages on 1997’s Vanishing Point where Gillespie’s presence wasn’t required and, back then, he realised this (or was too strung-out to care).

Recently, however, Gillespie has become convinced he’s a good singer when in reality his signature drawl is only slightly more robust than the floppy-disc flatness of his contemporary, Ian Brown.

This one began with Gillespie’s lyric-driven songs. This is a big mistake and one that even producer David Holmes cannot rescue from the jaws of the bargain bin.

this is what closes out the review and wow

Come Ahead is a record that fails, fatally, to recognise that Bobby Gillespie was always Primal Scream’s least compelling element.
