and it kinda stuck with me to not get a piece of plastic with every drink that will be around for 1000 years

The men using straws question reminds me of a story that my uncle (mom's brother) once told me about my dad.

My dad was about eight years older than my uncle, likely making my uncle about 15 (?) at time of said story. My uncle was apparently drinking something with a straw and my dad made a comment that "only queers use straws."

So to answer vansmack's question...never for straight men, sometimes for gay men.

When it was completed this unassuming brick tower concealed a radar dish that linked Washington via microwave relay with the Midatlantic “federal relocation arc”. In the event of a missile exchange, the tower -codenamed Cartwheel- would function as the central spoke connecting whatever remained of the continuity of government system.
