The Walkmen are one of the best and most fully-formed rock bands working today.  I'm frankly shocked that they emerged as the best band of the NYC "garage rock revival" or "post-punk revival" scene of the first years of the aughts, blowing past the Strokes in the last 5 years.  They're providing a blueprint for longevity and maturity in a schizophrenic, trend-hopping rock scene.

I had basically the same thoughts while at the show last night. Just wish the singer didn't look so much like Vansmack.

Looks like they've been mixing setlists on this tour, but playing pretty much the same batch of songs.

You could also argue that man bands are setting a blueprint for longevity. Nada Surf, Old 97's, Dr. Dog, etc.

If they didn't play The Rat, I was going to ask for my money back.

I mean they had to play it, for the simple fact that one guy was yelling "The Rat" between every song.

I was glad they played that because they opened with it when I saw them last and the sound was messed up so you didn't get the full effect.

Way, way too loud (from the back). I couldn't understand a word he guy "sang", but some of the music sounded pretty good (for an opener). How's that for a tepid review?

Their set was really loud, but I had earplugs.  I liked them.  but, I also really like their latest album and it was a treat to hear "Baby Missles" live.

they strike me as more professional and careerist than most bands, which is just fine by me.
