jags . . . where is your song for this thread!!??

for shame.

I'm getting personal here.

"Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay" - Otis Redding

Except the docks are now gone. You'd be shocked if you saw how bad and massive the damage is and I have a front row seat. All kinds of waves rushing over the bulkheads and crap, like pier planks, floating all over the bay. Eventually realized that 2 different boats had sunk next door. Don't know if we lost any. If so, they're underwater and you can't see them. I've never seen anything like this in my life.

Any snow for you yet, Walkie?

Just heard that Merriweather is flooded out. Sorry, Seth.

Was there a secret Radiohead show there tonight?

considering Asbury Park was run over by water I'd say Springsteen's Sandy is the song..

"So what's your status?"

So maybe I'm just jaded, but i'm assuming the above text message I received from my boss an hour ago is not him checking to see if I'm alive and/or OK, but seeing if I have power and internet access so I may work from home.

And of course, I tell him "up and running."

Why do I do this?

I'm calling bust on this. Everyone is too well prepared.
i wouldnt say complete bust but the DC area definitely could have experienced a LOT worse. I wonder if the derecho actually helped in that regard with culling out any weakened trees and possibly having pepco fortify things a little more against future storms

My co-workers were all at the office yesterday (I got very rare permission to work from home).  Most are here today.  No one ever called to check in on us.  Nice.

Our house seeped water through a bedroom window and the basement, but our power stayed on in Columbia all night.

Drove from Springfield to Centreville last night to hang out with some friends because I was told I wouldn't have to come into my office this morning. Driving wasn't so bad, but the wind gusts were intense and it whipped rain around like crazy. There was debris all over the place and I'm sure it continued through the night. Power stayed on at my house, also stayed on at my friends house.

This morning I set my alarm for 7:45 and 8:45 and had not been contacted by my office. My boss had said "assume you have the day off unless I contact you", so I figured I was in the clear. I got a phone call at 10:15 asking where I was. Turns out my boss had texted me at 9:15, but since it was a mass text message I didn't get it because I didn't have my 4G on. So, now I'm in my office. My neighborhood is a mess, but no real damage, couple tress down, one across a street but that street leads to another neighborhood so I was able to get onto the main road. Other than that nothing crazy.
