Favorite CD stores?

With DCCD going where do you like to shop?
 
 For me:
 
 1.  CD and Game Exchange, 50 cents is a price not a rapper, $1, used and new.  Nice staff too.
 2.  Soundgarden.  Evil place, I can't get out for under $50.
 3.  Record and Tape Traders.  Have some good stuff, don't go there as much as the others.
 4.  Forget the name, not sure if it is still there in Fredrick, but they had a very small collection of CDs that you could find nowhere else.  Upstairs somewhere.  I bought one CD (Wat Tyler) and they were sad to see it go!

On this side of the Mississippi:
 
 1. CDepot College Park
 2. Soundgarden in Baltimore
 3. CD Game Exchange in Adams Morgan and Tenleytown
 
 Out of town, Montreal seems to have some decent used cd places, particularly for jazz. The exchange rate is very favorable.
 
 NYC used cd stores suck, though there is a good one for new Americana. Can't remember the name.
 
 West of the Mississippi:
 
 There's a good one in Seattle, but can't remember the name.
 
 
 But of course Amoeba in SF, LA, and presumably the Berkeley store as well top everything.

 yeah, there was one cd store in nyc that was really good, but i can't remember it. . .somewhere near broadway i think.  oh well.

Can't wait for this year's SXSW. Between the Shiner Bocks & the Waterloo purchases it's an expensive trip...Gotta love the Waterloo in-stores also when they roll out the beer keg from the microbrewery next door.
 
 My fav Record store though is a little one here in Pittsburgh (Bloomfield actually) called Paul's CDs. If you're ever in town check it out. I just returned from a little browsing trip & ended up with ten new additions to my family...

It looks like I'll be taking the metro/bus/light rail combo to to Baltimore for Soundgarden more often.
 
 I was impressed with AKA Records in old town Philadelphia - sort of like a larger, better stocked version of DCCD - with considerably lower prices.
 
 Also Chicago has some great ones: Reckless Records is where you go for Neko Case sightings, and Laurie's Planet of Sound in Lincoln Square is great - they always have had some choice bootlegs for pretty good prices.  And the three or so Dr. Wax's have some good used stuff.  
 
 She Said Boom and Soundscapes in Toronto are both ok, but not really worth writing home (or here, for that matter) about.  I never found anything better while living there, though.

 Smackie's new place is less than 10 blocks from the Haight store.  I must visit 4-5 times a week.

Paul's stepped right out of High Fidelity - it's even got the same characters. Love it.
 
 You should strongly consider going to SXSW. The preliminary band list should be out soon - in fact it's late.
 
 The price for a badge is steep (especially now that it's getting closer - check swsx.com) but it's so worth it. You  can  buy a wristband and pay at the door, but the pecking order is badge, then wristband, then pay at door. On Wed & Thurs nite any option will do, but you'll get screwed on the weekends when the lines are long. I would have missed many incredible shoes over the years without a badge. You'll get into many things with the badge that otherwise you'd miss. The other trick is to contact your favorite labels prior to going & get an invite pass for their private parties. Some of the best things occur during the day and you'll need the invite to get in.

I'm going to the soundgarden for the first time next weekend...Im forcing a friend to go to try and help keep me under 50 bucks lol
 
 the store I can get into a lot of trouble at as of now is the record and tape traders main store in Towson....even though the last couple of times in I havent been that impressed with the used selection
 
 my normal place I go is the white marsh best buy...there's no fun or enjoyment alas, Im supporting faceless corporatism(is that even a word) but....when I know exactly what Im going to get, its a lot simpler driving the 5 minutes there than into towson, up to bel air, or down into town.....

I really think I might go -unless work prevents it. Well, money's an issue, too. I thought it might be like CMJ where you can still buy tickets for individual shows. If I have to buy a badge...yikes. That really is pricey.

If you're really interested in going and would like a travel buddy or two, let me know. I'm planning to go (first timer) and it would be great split the cost of a hotel room...more $$ for other stuff that way!

 Local: When I have time to shop: CD Cellar. No time: Best Buy (hate to say it), or I shop online. Unfortunately, I don't get to some of the other MD/DC cd stores that I used to get to.
 
 Non-local: Record Exchange in Blacksburg, Spaceboy Music, Philadelphia. A few in Tucson, AZ : Toxic Ranch, Zia's, Zip's, Bookman's.
