BTW - if (when?) Theo wins a WS with the Red Sox AND the Cubs, where does he rank among the Gods?
I mean, the Mount Rushmore of GMs for sure. Interesting topic.

They essentially turned Jason Heyward's last year under control into three top prospects (P Tyrell Jenkins, SS Dansby Swanson, and P Aaron Blair) and a utility outfielder Ender Inciarte, plus one good year of Shelby Miller.

That's amazing.

This guy's an idiot.

$184m for 8 years of Heyward or what I laid out above?  The Braves ran a damn coup on their collection of players for Heyward.

Giants sign Cueto, 6 years, $130m.

So $206.5m for Greinke, or $220m for 6 years of Cueto and 5 years of Smardzija?

I think the Giants know what they're doing.

Johnny Cueto, $130 million, an opt-out and the modern baseball contract

My brother in law and I were just talking about this very issue this morning.

What was the risk for the Giants?  $10m more than the Market Value (assuming the D-Backs offered FMV at 6 yrs, $120m) with the possibility of losing him after two years?

Not much risk there because that means he likely had two brilliant seasons.  If his arm blows out, your stuck with him for 6, but with baseball's guaranteed contract that's the risk with every player, and $10m is chump change to take on the risk of the opt out.

My Giants friends are all hoping for the best in two solid seasons then he opts out at age 32.

Mariners sign iwakuma to a one year deal with vesting options for 2017 and 18.

The Dodgers are a mess.

That's an Orioles move.  Blame it on the physical.

Kazmir to Dodgers.  An opt-out after one year?  DD would never do that.

Single team streaming option for 2016:

http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/12/29/mlb-live-streaming-single-team-games-2016-season

Is this something you can play on your TV via Roku, or does it just mean streaming on your laptop?
