and how about the Mountain Goats Zopilote Machine?
so many albums that came out in 1994 had a big impact on me...

Can't believe I forgot that one too.

it did come out in oct of 93...Anodyne - Uncle Tupleo
that album was in heavy rotation and had a big influence for the next 10 years of my music listening

The performance had next to no one at it.  So I am guessing I am not the only one to have never heard of her before.  But she was playing at the same time as Shovels and Rope.  That might have lead to the no show crowd.  Are you truthfully telling me you listened to Iris Dement in 1994?

oh come on now... even I would admit Iris was a critics darling about 93-95 and then faded...

10,000 maniacs covered let the mystery be on MTV Unplugged.. I think with David Byrne guesting too... that's when I first really noticed Iris Dement...but I could see how people wouldn't know her.. she singlehandedly destroyed her career... after The Way I hould came out she didn't record any new original material for like 15 years or more! and she sorta dissapeared completely for a decade..

I have never read a critics review of music.  Maybe that is why I missed out.

She suffers from writers block and battles depression, I believe.

The Magnetic Fields - The Charm of the Highway Strip

Arguably their best.

Fun year for concerts for me:

Bookended by Geo Clinton and PFunk Jan 1 (DAR) and Dec 31 (Warner), 1994 also had Pink Floyd (Yankee Sta, RFK),  Rolling Stones (Voodoo Lounge - RFK, Giants Sta, Foxboro Sta), Johnny Cash (Warner), Pearl Jam (Patriot Ctr - the Cobain discovery day), Billy Joel/Elton John (RFK), Lollapalooza at CharlesTown Races, a handful+ of Grateful Dead shows, and a nice 930 selection (including Meat Puppets, Michelle Shocked, Thee Hypnotics, Ice-T & Body Count, Helmet, "O.D. Jubilee Band" a/k/a Black Crowes, two nights of Rev HH).
Oh, and Woodstock '94 too.

I guess we should expect more of these Nostalgia Year posts.  I would like 1984 or 1986 next.
