There’s something very odd to me as a native Michigander about school getting cancelled for snow when it is 71 degrees outside, which was the case for Richmond Public Schools.

Bike ride in shorts today, sledding tomorrow.

Weather Underground says 2.6 tonight and another 7.5 tomorrow at my house.

Velvet Underground are calling it Alaska.

Aren't most feds still teleworking? My understanding is that snow days automatically become telework days, and there's no such thing as a snow day anymore. At least for feds. Though i could be wrong.

I made the mistake of driving my tiny car (FIAT) to the office when the roads were simply wet, around 6:00 AM.
Checked my work cell when I got in and saw that my boss offered to let me work from home. He texted last night.
I am dumb.
WHAT?

school getting cancelled for snow when it is 71 degrees outside

you're going to have to elaborate on that one, because i can't come up with any sort of plausible explanation.  help.
It was 71 degrees outside yesterday at 4 pm in Richmond at which point the city’s school system (and the two major surrounding counties) all announced school would be closed due to snow. Now, sure enough, there was sleet and snow overnight and it’s warranted within the confines of how little infrastructure there is here for snow removal but at the time when today was declared a snow day, it was, at that moment, 71 degrees.
