If we are going to refuse to show the works of a quadriplegic who spoke crudely to his models, then what are we to do with Picasso, whose brutal emotional and physical abuse of women is legendary? Or Gauguin, who spread STDs across Tahiti, raped women, and took a 14-year old bride?

Or Jackson Pollock...Difference is those dudes are dead and Chuck Close is still alive.

I don't know how it will be handled. I do think it is possible to separate the artist from the art, and that men are not going to be respectful overnight just because everyone is saying #metoo now.

BUT, these non-apology apologies are really pissing me off. Just say "sorry" and "I'm working to be a better person." Is it that difficult?

Agreed.  I'm not defending Close, but I do find the decisions about who is penalized and who is not to be arbitrary.  Perhaps the criteria is dead vs. alive, but nobody has said so.

Pollock is an interesting example.  NGA is still promoting a special exhibit of one of his mega-paintings but makes no mention of the hell that Lee Krasner endured as his wife.

yes this is a whole new era
artists tend to be some fucked up people to begin with
it's much easier to separate the artist from the art when they are dead tho..

It's official, Liam Gallagher's show is cancelled and will not be rescheduled.  Refunds coning through Ticketfly or from location of purchase (if paid for with cash).

Total bummer

**A Note from Brian Wilson**

Dear Friends,

As some of you might know I have been having some issues with my back that have very recently gotten worse. It runs in my family, Carl had back problems as well. My doctors have told me that I need to have back surgery immediately. They are optimistic that this will finally relieve the pain. Sadly, this means we must postpone the upcoming May shows. Iím very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to everyone who was coming out to see us. I know that my agents are already in the process of rescheduling and we will have some of the make-up dates to announce very soon. We will get you all the info asap. Please know that the music is in my heart and in my soul and me and the boys are looking forward to performing for you very soon.

Love & Mercy
Brian Wilson
