This is horse shit. My kid's education and everyone else's kids' educations are more important than preserving the lives of already sick, elderly people who no longer produce anything for society for a few years.

I know, right? Shutting down the schools is not going to help if people aren't doing social distancing. And they're just not. Friday, I rode my bike past a local rec center. 20-30 teen and young adult Latinos playing soccer. Story on CNN this morning about California beaches and hiking trails being open in spite of governor's shelter in place order.
I'll be ok with this if they can come up with some kind of online distance learning. But likely they can't, because of accessibility and equity legal issues. And even if they do, it will be hastily put together. Unfortunately, we now live in a society where both parents work, making homeschooling a crapshoot.
