Anybody have a refrigerator recommendation? Looking to spend in the $1000-$1200 range. More important to get something reliable that's going to last than it is to get something with multiple bells and whistles (e.g. don't want an ice maker or water dispenser) that are bound to break.

We purchased one a mere 2.5 years ago and it's already dying. It was cheap.

And I'm still thinking a five year warranty for $300+ on a $1000 fridge is a ripoff (?)

I have no recommendation but I think a fridge is probably something you don't skimp out on to ensure you don't have to buy another one in three years.

Just go with a classic white GE with no bells and whistles. I'm pretty sure the one in my basement is about 40 years old, however, I'm sure it sucks enough electricity to pay for another fridge every few years.

I'm certain that is true, but if you don't open it a lot...probably not crazy bad
 older fridges can be very inefficient
unfortunately the  Refrigerator Retirement Savings Calculator isn't working at the moment
so I can't give you an estimate

A 1986-era 18 c.f. fridge uses 1400 kWh a year, while a modern energy-efficient model uses only 350 kWh ? a whopping 75% reduction. At 15¢ kWh, trading in a pre-1986 fridge for a new efficient one would save about $158 a year in electricity costs. And some older fridges are even worse than the average.


So you could easily by a no frills one every 3 years, or a nice one every 5-6

seems you are either RC or a jew on the court

I really don't know( or care) what separates Protestant/ Evangelical/ Roman Catholic/Lutheran other than a few rules for this and that.  But got to imagine they kinda think they are on the same team when it comes to stuff like that?

TIL that the LDS population here is about the same as the Jewish American population
but they got nothing on the tribe when it comes to breadth and reach in powerful sectors
