8/16/84 Echo and the Bunnymen/Billy Bragg/Velvet Monkeys     Ontario Theater

Ocean Rain tour.  I think it was one of Billy's first shows in the US. He was handing out free buttons in the lobby after the show. The Fleshtones were supposed to play, but canceled.  We got The Velvet Monkeys instead.  They burned an 8-track in honor of Elvis. I think this was my only show at The Ontario.

8/16/06 Foo Fighters (acoustic)   Tower Theater

Couldn't make the DC show, so went to Philly. Very Very Very top of the balcony - but worth it.

 8/16/12  Barry Manilow   Wolf Trap

Fuck yeah Barry Manilow.

Oh... I was at one of those radhiohead shows, can't recall which one. What was the reasoning they had two shows there multiple days apart?

one of those is montreal and one is maryland?  the montreal one was the day after that big blackout that affected a lot of the northeast (quebec was fine but it was weird turning on the tv and seeing masses of people walking across bridges in NYC again until seeing exactly what was going on).  had tickets to the toronto show on the 16th, but it got cancelled because of the power issues for some reason.  that's 3 radiohead shows i had tickets to that got cancelled.
i've seen radiohead 12 times (but nothing in the last ~20 years), but that maryland show is the only one less than 300 miles from my house.

Distance is pretty badass and the fact he doesn’t really go to concerts or post here anymore only makes me respect him more.

I didn’t realize other areas also had Radiohead shows affected/cancelled due to random bizarre events.  I thought that was just a DC thing.

that's interesting and must have been a weird show

On 8/9/95, Weir plays to an enthusiastic crowd who know of Garcia's passing. Addressing the crowd, Bob notes, "If our departed friend taught us anything, its that good music can make sad times better. We have our work cut out for us this evening",

. The song and moment of the night appears to be "Throwing Stones", where Weir whips the crowd up by sing, "Papa's gone, we are on our own", and reportedly the venue opened up speakers to the crowd outside the venue also.
