What really struck me is the flood of memories of people it brought back. Not just the concerts or the performances...in that regard, the WF really hits the mark because it makes you feel the soul of the club. I realize I've spent a lot of time there and have a lot to look back on, but I guarantee you there aren't many venues like that in this country. You won't get that from a House of Blues. You might get it from the Fillmore SF or the Metro in Chicago. Even all of NYC's venues have changed at some point in time or gone corporate, like Irving Plaza. That's part of what makes the 9:30 so special.
