I thought it was 50 unless family history, but my sole information on this topic is:
1. This thread
2. Men of a certain age "Let the Sunshine In" episode

might want to ask that in the Smakie thread

I'm asking completely seriously: at what age do I need to consider getting this done? It's 40, right? If it makes a difference, extensive family history of cancer but not prostate.

Colonoscopies are for colon cancer, not prostate cancer.

This is the most depressing thread ever.

I got a physical at 42 and promised myself to get one every year thereafter. It's seven years later and I still haven't gotten another...as I start approaching the age in life where shit is more likely to go wrong.

How do they check for prostate cancer?

It does seem like a good way to lose a few pounds before a big event.

Please refer to my earlier post in possibly another thread about the gratification of having an ass that functions as a hose for a 12 hour period or so.

How do they check for prostate cancer?

Everyone can relax.  Checking for Prostate cancer is now put off until 50.

But, since you asked, they stick two fingers up your ass and measure the size and shape of your prostate.  If they find irregularities, then you may get a colonoscopy, but more like an MRI.

Enjoy your lunch.

I just did the c procedure a coupla weeks ago.   Prep (squirting, hose-like) is not the same as diarrhea, although certainly similar.   No food the day before is of course a challenge but doable.    Procedure at GW Hosp was super easy and well administered.   A few polyps got found and tested.  I'm all good for 7-10 years...

My father died in August from colon cancer, after never having a colonoscopy. Don't mess around. Get this done when you're supposed to.
