Just got an email informing me I was overcharged for my Foo Fighters tickets and I will be receiving a refund "for the amount mistakenly charged beyond the base ticket price and service charge." I'm guessing they mean the $3.95 delivery fee for a will-call only show.

I can't wait to see the Anthem.  Just need the announcement of a show by the National or the Shins or Courtney Barnett/Kurt Vile or Queens of the Stone Age or...

Wilco.

I haven't been following...is this place a seated venue or an standing venue?

Seems to be general admission floor with seats (some VIP/reserved) in the balconies.

Tickets will definitely be above $50 to see Wilco there.

Ok, then forget that idea.

anybody think about what the impact of Anthem will be on other non-IMP venues?

I'm thinking we'll see an even worse lineup at the Fillmore Silver Spring.. although I'm not sure how the costs of operating Anthem will play into it..

also i  would think the days where DAR had many shows will be over..

Anthem fills a gap in the DC venue space.  With a max capacity of 6,500, it will attract bands who are to big for DAR, but who can't sell out Patriot Center or the outdoor venues.  Maybe it'll draw shows away from Strathmore?

6500 capacity with mostly standing? As if it's not already hard enough to see anything at other smaller standing venues. This sounds worse.

Pass.

It'll probably just feel like the Aragon in Chicago, which is 5,000 capacity. In reality, we DID need a venue this size. Or at least with the flexibility to hold that many people.

Earlier today there was a Tweet that went out from either Stereogum or Consequence of Sound with the Anthem listed as the venue for the QOTSA show, now it just says "TBA" or "TBC". So I'm guessing that it's just making sure that the rollout of announcements is coordinated. FYI, the QOTSA presale is Tuesday.

Lorde is the second confirmed act.  In the distant future (April 2018).  For the same price as Grohl:  100 to 175 dollars.

Will-Call only?  Where is that listed to be the case?

I didn't pay for shipping, but I certainly did pay an absolutely insane Service Charge.  My purchase lists the delivery method as Standard Mail

Thankful a lot of the great Merriweather shows this summer--Ryan Adams, Gorillaz, Belle and Sebastian/Spoon/Andrew Bird--slipped in before the Anthem era.

$100?!!

Lorde

Anthem

I am excited for this show because I have always wanted to see her live...but slight wince at it costing the same as the Foo Fighters on opening night:  $100-$175.  Guess this is going to be the Anthem standard.

100 is the new 50

Lets go to the maths.  $60 million construction loan, paid back over 10 years = $6 million per year.  250 shows per year is $24,000 per show, or $4.00 per ticket.  Rent, electric bil, insurance and other operating costs are $15 million per year, $60,000 per show, or $10.00 per ticket.  The booking fee for the Foos is $500,000, or $83.33 per ticket.  Staph is $2.5 million per year, or  $1.67 per ticket

In summary, per ticket:
$83.33 - Booking fee for Foos
$10.00 - Rent and Utilities
$ 4.00 - Capital Expense
$ 1.67 - Staph
$99.00 - Total
$100.00 - Ticket price
$1.00 profit
