People are asking that much, but they're not getting it.  They're going for about $2500-3000 on Ebay.

Obviously, these bids are BS, but still funny to imagine someone paying this much:  $99,999,999.00
  $44,100.00

$264 (face + ticketmaster fees) to see McCartney 5th row at Boardwalk Hall in AC in 2002.  Relatively small arena that the Beatles once played in.  Worth it.

$350
 Pearl Jam
 Acoustic Benefit for YouthCare
 Benaroya Hall, Seattle
 October 22, 2003

If you're a PJ fan, you're probably familiar with the show, as you probably own this (or should, if you don't):

It was worth it, let me tell you.  Don't get me wrong, I'll be the first to agree that $350 is an absolutely outrageous price to pay to see a show.  But for one so truly amazing and special, I decided to throw restraint to the winds for once.  My only regret is that the majority of that amount didn't actually go to YouthCare, only the original ticket price.  Had it all gone to charity, I wouldn't have felt as bad about spending that much.  I actually got my ticket out front the night of the show, after standing around for over an hour.  It was one of only two tickets I saw sold out there in that entire time.

$110 for Madonna in DC in 2004. Face value.

$108 for U2 in DC in 2005. Each night. Face Value.
The other 3 times I saw them on that tour I had the cheap GA tickets, or I got them well below face value on Craig's list and Ebay.

And I think we paid nearly $100 for the acoustic Springsteen show at the Patriot Center. Face Value.

Was U2 worth it? Hell yeah. Was Madonna worth it? Mostly, but not entirely. Was Springsteen worth it? It's Bruuuuccccee! I'll pay that much for U2 and Springsteen again, not Madonna

Bruce Springsteen at the Patriot Center a couple of years ago. With the ticketmaster fees it came to close to $100. I believe face value was about $80.

This year's Bonnaroo, which including taxes and fees was $200. Well worth it.

As for single shows, the Stones at Soldier Field last year- $99.

I paid $120 for that Radiohead show at Tower Theatre  and had the inside aisle seat in the 3rd row, stage right.  Excellent show!  Up til that point the most I've paid is @$50.

I think the most expensive ticket I've purchased was Dylan's quasi-secret show at the 9:30 Club a couple years ago. (I just looked it up: 2004/04/02.) I don't remember how much tickets were exactly, but I seem to recall $70-80 with tickets.com fees. For the record, it wasn't really worth it.

Bruce Springsteen, 80 dollars for that acoustic show and 120 for a scalped ticket to see him with the E Street Band.  Totally worth it.  I honestly think he could be one of the greatest performers ever.

I don't usually spend outrageous amounts on the tickets themselves; I can't recall the last time I bought from a scalper and most of the bands I really want to see don't go over $40/ticket. And usually it's more like $25 or less for the tickets. But lately I have gotten in a really bad habit of going out of town to see shows.  Sometimes it's bands that I won't get the chance to see again for a long time (the Pogues in NYC was well worth the trip even though I saw both nights here too)  sometimes it's not (I think I've seen Social Distortion 6 or 7 times this year) but either way it gets pretty expensive.

Like my trip to the Voodoo Music Festival a few weeks back... tickets to the Festival were a pretty good deal at $60 for a 2-day pass.  Add in airfare at $350 and hotel at $190/night (in New Orleans these days, there's no mid-range hotels, only heroin-junkie dives and upscale) and it's a pretty expensive little outing.

Face Value:  Besides festivals, I think $160+ charges for ROLLING STONES.
For scalper: $400 for THE WHO doing TOMMY for the first time -- Radio City show.  I think the face was $250.
But the most I paid, based on %%% over face:
U2 for THE JOSHUA TREE Tempe show that was filmed for Rattle&Hum. Tix were $5, but I paid $150 for one show and $75 for the other

i think the most i ever paid for a show was when i drove to kansas city, MO to see the last get up kids show ever last july.  it was a 23 hour drive each way, plus a night at a hotel; so i'm su re counting gas and such, the trip cost several hundred...but it was absolutely worth it.  that band changed my life when i was 13, and if they ever reuinted, i would attend no matter where in the world it was, and how much the ticket price was.  to me, if you really love a band, and that band means something to you, i dont think you can put a price on seeing and connecting with said band live and experiencing them for a few hours.  i think moments like that are absoultely priceless, and something you can never get back or experience again.
