all brought about by Macron's decision to hold snap elections this summer, when his party and coalition were at a low point in their popularity.  at the time, i read one analysis/prognostication that macron did this to purposefully let the opposition factions into power, let them fight amongst themselves for a few years and accomplish nothing (the opposition is a loose coalition of both right and left parties that can't agree on anything other than getting into power), so by the time the 2027 presidential election comes around he and his party will look like the logical, sane choice.  not sure things are going to work out that way, but TBD...
