Rep. Will Hurd (R-Tex.) announced on Thursday that he will not seek reelection
Hurd is the only black Republican in the House and district includes 820 miles along the U.S.-Mexico border
making him the only GOP member of Congress to represent the southern border.

His departure is the ninth by a Republican incumbent

what is shocking is incumbents almost always win

right, but after years of being in the majority and getting used to doing whatever the hell they want, they are now feasting on the bitter pill that is being in the minority.  worse yet, the writing on the wall doesn't favor them regaining the majority any time soon.  with no prospects of living the good life in DC again, why bother?  better to go home and make bundles of cash, or stay in DC and make bundles of cash as a lobbyist - and not have to deal with the Dems, or having to constantly defend the president.

this brings up an interesting point...with 9 republican's not running for reelection...does that mean they could be supporting impeachment soon?
(although it's not like if the dems wanted to do it in the house they could)

The impeachment whip list is up to 119 (with amash the only non dem in there)
still need Pelosi on board...

I doubt any of them will want to burn their bridges with the Republican Party

Remember they will need a new job

Pelosi won't budge until the Senate is on board, so unlikely to happen before november 2020.

the House is looking safer and safer for the Dems in 2020.  on to the Senate...

Say goodbye to three of Dupont Circle’s biggest happy hours: Sign of the Whale, The Front Page, and Buffalo Billiards are all closing

Notably, both Sign of the Whale and The Front Page were named by Complex as one of the 25 Douchiest Bars in D.C. in 2012

Rep. Bill Flores (R-Texas) will not seek re-election in 2020, becoming the fifth Texas Republican — and the 15th Republican overall — to retire from the House this term.

John Bolton
was just looking for this thread to post that
is there a term for getting fired by tweet...

@realDonaldTrump
I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore....
....I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week.

Or this version:

John Bolton
@AmbJohnBolton
I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, "Let's talk about it tomorrow."
