The only Dems that are focusing on trans issues are assholes like Mayor Pete and Gavin Newsom who are agreeing with the right!  You people are delusion about this.  Really sinks how that, if the forum and all of us existed in the mid 50's, the lot of you would be complaining about civil rights

The weird thing is if democrats would shut up about trans rights a little they would win elections and could ensure……you guessed it…..trans rights!
weird as I don't see Hutch's response as that at all
I think what he was saying is the support for trans rights is there in the Dem party, but it doesn't have to be a tent pole of the party
If they get elected and in power, as in the past, will work to protect trans rights

One thing the Dems need is the independent voters who keep swinging right

It's pointless to have this hard stance on principals if you can't get elected... just shouting into the void

As an individual, you should not do that, but when running for office, you have to make a collation and compromises

Sure he does. He thinks I'm a racist piece of shit because I don't think humans born with a penis should be allowed to participate in girl's track and field. He also thinks my daughter is a racist piece of shit because it makes her uncomfortable to share a bathroom with a human who has a penis.

You have to win elections or it’s just pointless. You don’t have to run on issues you are unpopular but once in power you can do things. There are plenty of examples in American politics of politicians who did things once in power that people didn’t necessarily agree with or expect. It’s called leadership. But you have to be elected first.

Totally agree, but not sure how Democrats have run on this issue in the past. Have they? It seems like the Republicans were the ones who ran on it in 2024.

Fair.

But republicans seize on it cause Democrats just talk about it too much and they know they got us against the wall on it. Like here we are. Just say we stand for equal rights for everyone and try to leave it there. Then once you win the election take action to ensure equal protection (although not sure what the approach would be to some aspects about trans rights like athletics). Honestly I leave that to someone else.

It’s not going to help trans people if republicans keep winning. Did it help Gaza that Trump won? Sorry NKOTB, you can’t convince me republicans and democrats are the same. That dog don’t hunt.

I think one or both of you don’t understand the meaning of the word ’racist’.

And I'm saying its literally not a tent pole of the party! Who are these democrats that have made trans rights the main part of their platform?  Not a single one, so saying it's somehow hurting them to focus on it misses the bigger point that the party has entirely left the working class to the meat grinder.

I think what he was saying is the support for trans rights is there in the Dem party, but it doesn't have to be a tent pole of the party

Silly, I think that makes you transphobic.  You were racist for other stuff.

Sure he does. He thinks I'm a racist piece of shit because I don't think humans born with a penis should be allowed to participate in girl's track and field. He also thinks my daughter is a racist piece of shit because it makes her uncomfortable to share a bathroom with a human who has a penis.

But that's the point! The only democrats that are mentioning it ARE PARROTING RIGHT WING TALKING POINTS.

But republicans seize on it cause Democrats just talk about it too much and they know they got us against the wall on it.

You’ve lost all touch on reality. You’re basing your point on the last few months - post Trump win- instead of years of democrats talking about this while refusing to talk about inflation or immigration.

And to trash Gavin, the only democrat in 9 years to deal with Trump correctly, at this point in time just shows how out of touch with reality you are. Gavin the last few weeks has been a master class. If it wasn’t for him the current Democratic Party would be dead. Pete and Bernie have great things to say but have made zero inroads against Trump.

Oh right nobody expected this from Trump…it’s been a shocker. He has really lost his base.

Sure it’s leadership. You get elected, take the lead on an issue and get the American to follow you. If that’s not leadership. A great example is JFK-LBJ on civil rights. And there are plenty others.

There is a difference between politics and governing.

Politics is about getting elected. Governing is about doing and not doing things. Politics and governing are related but not the same. You need to win to govern though…So it’s all about winning.

posting meme's cranked out by his press team is not dealing with trump....  remember how many fell for Fetterman, myself included and look how that turned out?

JB Pritzker at least on the surface is showing empathy towards all and is prepared to deal with trump's bs, where as newsom is out there crowing about dealing with homeless encampments among other things.

So who are those democrats?  Who put trans rights above all other talking points and lost an election?

This shit is like Defund the Police all over again.  Everyone is so certain that this cost Dems elections but no one can point to a) democrats that actually put for this policy as the focus on their campaign that b) lost an election.

You’ve lost all touch on reality. You’re basing your point on the last few months - post Trump win- instead of years of democrats talking about this while refusing to talk about inflation or immigration.

Libs also can't vocalize at all, how Newsom is "fighting trump" outside of doing some tweets and selling merch.  IT's fucking laughable, man.  Like, don't you want your politicians to do something?  Or just fucking talk?
