I thought we were talking about the role of government, and I also thought you were making 2 arguments that were in opposition to each other.

I just don’t see anything contradictory about saying government is wasteful and should be as limited as possible AND that in a pandemic which has killed a million Americans government should play a role and spend money to further public health.

Now if I had said government should not exist or government should never spend a nickel AND then said government should spend money on test  kits then that would be contradictory.

both DC9 and Union stage this week are now requiring proof of vax for entry

DC9 also listed the booster: After February 1st, we are requiring all patrons to show proof that they are at least 2 weeks past receiving a second vaccine dose—ie: 2 shots of Moderna/Pfizer or the Johnson&Johnson shot + booster

well I guess only if you got the J&J

I thought I read somewhere that City Winery NYC is requiring vaccines and a negative test result within 24 hours of the show.

This is news to me about DC requiring proof of vaccination for restaurants and other indoor gatherings effective January 15

no, this is fairly new.  IMP was one of the few in the area you needed proof of vax
you were previously able to show a recent negative test

This is news to me about DC requiring proof of vaccination for restaurants and other indoor gatherings effective January 15

and this makes sense why they changed the policy

I wonder if Arlington will follow suit

i guess the new part is that negative tests are no longer accepted in the absencr of proof of vax.

Trump could have really moved the needle on this months ago.  I love how he says 'I came up with the Vax', but  in the end he sends the right message and he even pushes back on Candice to say the Vax is necessary and it’s the people who won’t take the vaccine that are the problem.

Well he knows his voters are dying from not being vaccinated and in close elections in certain states it could determine result.

I have never believed he is dumb like liberals like to say.

And before someone chimes in: the reason he wouldn’t move the needle months ago is back then it wasn’t disproportionately and to the same degree Trump voters dying…. Now that we have a few months to get vaccinated and boostered it is predominantly Trump voters

Six months ago he still benefited politically from being perceived as leading the anti-vax movement

Factor in all his potentially  dead supporters and it’s not quite as attractive

I agree with your analysis

but it's odd to see him do a 180 on something (or maybe I'm forgetting)

Now that we have a few months to get vaccinated and boostered... it is predominantly Trump voters
even with the easy to see data
and
that you are more likely to have a friend or family die if you voted GOP last election

He does 180s all the time… says different things depending on crowd and situation… his base has such a cult like devotion they hear what they want to…and when he lies to them and they know he is lying they don’t care….they also discount some of what he says if they disagree with it and think he is playing a master move on the people they hate… it’s beyond sick and twisted… if the media covers what he says as news they fall into his game and help him execute the con…

Unfortunately when he says something like this it’s covered as news..as significant… but it’s not because he will say the exact opposite the next time…. However he is a master charlatan and some people always fall for the con… in this case it will be reported as news and some people in the middle and wavering in support for Biden will think “See Trump is not so bad…he developed the vaccine and wants people to be vaccinated…all that stuff people say about him are lies..”

Wasn’t it Baltimore’s greatest son, H. L. Mencken, who said something like “nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people”?

Interesting what he actually said
