The biggest question.

Will we be the same, or the same,  after all of this.

I, predict,  the same.

Some things will change I think...I mean it could take over a year to get a vaccine...

Human nature won’t change though so

I think the virus would have a good time invading this elderly fat fuck. I sincerely hope he gets it, because he clearly doesn't get it.

Barr calls lockdown measures ‘draconian,’ and suggests they should be revisited next month

It will be interesting. I predict a 9/11 type "fear" for a while that will slowly be forgotten about. Hopefully in a few years, this will all be a blip on the radar, but time will tell.

6.6 million new initial job unemployment claims

It’s important to note that it’s been hard for many to even file

These type of numbers have never been seen although during the Great Depression numbers may have been greater as a percentage..I haven’t crunched the numbers

so my understanding this number is the first time applying for unemployment insurance
I don't even think they had this until FDR, so don't think you can compare numbers and so many people were undocumented then too

Love that fox is running these headlines Paid to quit? Backlash builds against unemployment benefits on ‘steroids’
it bothers these people soo much that someone who makes $7 an hour might get $600 more a month
it's insane
They don't mind corporate bailouts in the billions

Yes well I think you can take it as a bit of a proxy for newly unemployed

Yeah but if you were working as a Gig worker or Laborer who got paid cash...you don't get to apply
so the numbers might be a lot higher

17 million over those three weeks...the actual unemployment rate has not been calculated yet...
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last week that U.S. employers shed 701,000 jobs in March, pushing the unemployment rate up to 4.4 percent, but the survey week for that figure was mid-March, before the crush of claims began. Most estimates put the current unemployment rate in the double digits or close to it.
