If Russet Perry's (D) narrow lead holds in #SD31, Dems would be guaranteed to keep the majority.

And, it looks like most of what's outstanding in #SD31 is mail ballots that should help Perry (D).

Potato people. The time is now!

City of Bunbury apologises to Wiggles for playing Hot Potato to deter antisocial behaviour

The City of Bunbury – the state's largest regional council – had been playing a looped version of Hot Potato at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell, shelter regularly used by people sleeping rough, in what it said was a valid public safety strategy.

At Tuesday night's council meeting, Mayor Jaysen Miguel acknowledged the "negative publicity" of the past week.

"On behalf of the city, I do apologise to anyone who may have experienced distress over this period," he said.

Dems fightin' words:

A federal committee is reconsidering whether po-tay-toes are really that good for you, and for your kids to eat at school. The U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee is creating its 2025 guidelines, and potatoes may no longer qualify as a vegetable.

The National Potato Council, which represents growers, maintains that potatoes are a "starchy vegetable," and says reclassifying spuds would create a "chaotic outcome."

Dems fightin' words:

i have it on good authority that plenty of republicans are also up in arms about this issue.  enough with the partisanship already!

The U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee is creating its 2025 guidelines, and potatoes may no longer qualify as a vegetable.
