Aww my first concert. They opened for Nelson. I rocked the Nelson hair in middle school and glued their posters to my bedroom wall because I didn't think I'd ever want to take them down.

I thought maybe you went for the opener. I believe they brought the Clash along earlier that decade when they were on their last legs. I was just curious as to who they brought for their 25th anniversary tour, which is the one you saw.

Certainly wasn't the Clash....I think I would've remembered that. I saw the Clash in 78 at their peak. One of those shows that people of my generation call you a twat when you tell them you saw them, Like the generation before me and the Beatles.

I was fortunate to see them stateside the following year in '79. They disbanded around '86 I believe. I was just curious what band they got in '89. I always got a kick out of them pairing with The Clash when they did. Seemed just plain wrong.

I used to be of the same opnion until I was 'dragged' to a concert by a woman I was dating at the time, and was totally blown away with his concert, he had those African singers on tour with him at the time, Ladysmith ramalamadingdong or whatever they called themselves. I've been a 'casual fan' ever since.
 
 He has wrote some wonderful songs though. "Still Crazy after all these years' "50 ways to leave your lover" and "Graceland" to name just three.

Well, Springsteen had one good album (and what an album) but apart from that he's extremely average. I would put Mellencap higher on the "American icon" pedestal personally, much more talented than old Brucie.

But do you like the song or the video? I think the song is fun and cute, and sing along everytime I hear it, but a classic??? I'm not so sure.
