Agreed - expected them to lose
but boring as shit

In a bar with a few dozen Americans chanting USA and it would have been fuckin nice to have scored a goal with all that enthusiasm

TIL the etymology of soccer - cockney slang for "association" (i.e., association football).

That was actually a decent game.

Unfortunately World Cup soccer is often boring now

Hopefully Iran can eliminate the great Satan that is US soccer fans this week and our national nightmare can end.

I believe I remember watching Iran defeat the US at the 1998 World Cup.

If the US loses to England and then ties Iran, wouldn’t Iran advance? (US two ties, Iran 1 win and 1 tie.) AKA the greatest outcome imaginable.

a moment to let that post sink in.

Glad Argentina won but they still looked mediocre. Maybe they can grow into the tournament.

Happy about Enzo’s goal and play. Hope they start him against Poland. The American commentators for the game did their homework as they seemed to know about his meteoric rise. He was the last player on the original list of 26.

Much like Germany has Argentina’s number in WC so Argentina always seems to beat Mexico even though games are difficult.

The Fans Screamed for Qatar. Their Passion Hid a Secret.

Through word of mouth, young Lebanese fans were offered an extraordinary deal: free flights, accommodations, match tickets and food, plus a small stipend, to bring some ultra culture to Qatar’s World Cup games. The fans arrived in mid-October to rehearse their choreographed actions and to practice their newly written chants.

And to learn Qatar’s national anthem.

Of course that stuff is going on…they only have 300,000 native people and absolutely no soccer culture.

But where was the outrage from liberals when the WC was awarded to Qatar? American liberals seem to have woken up to Qatari corruption, repression and worse last week? The time to take a stand was years ago when Qatar was awarded the cup after buying it!  You didn’t know they literally buy everything and have millions of immigrants in their country whose job it is to serve them? You thought they treated homosexuals well?? now it’s just too late and I will concentrate on the games themselves.

Uruguay’s loss hurts me.

Comical watching Ronaldo trying to take credit for a teammate’s goal. What an a-hole.
