McCarthy has given away all the power of the speakership - why is he still fighting for a pile of nothing?  can anyone explain how the following isn't going to happen within a month:

1. GOP puts forth some legislation that the ultraMAGA wing doesn't like (ex: a budget that isn't extreme enough for them)
2. per McCarthy's giveaway, any 1 member can call for a vote of no-confidence in the Speaker
3. all 212 Dems, plus at least 6 MAGAts, vote "NEXT!"
4. we're right back where we are now, except no Kevin.  eventually someone emerges with the gavel.
5. go back to step 1.

is being speaker for a week worth all this, kevin?

the six who last voted against McCarthy:

Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona
Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado
Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida
Rep. Bob Good of Virginia
Rep. Matt Rosendale of Montana
Rep.-elect Eli Crane of Arizona

Gaetz stating that McCarthy is likely to prevail later tonight, with the return of two pro-Kevin votes... end is in sight?

might not even last a week:

Quote
Galen Metzger @GalenMetzger1
Remember that after the Speaker vote, the House has to approve a rules package - and moderate Rs have talked about teaming with dems to shoot down affirmative action for the Freedom Caucus.

Quite possible that the fight over rules goes on much longer than the fight over speaker

"affirmative action" in this case refers to guaranteed membership on certain committees, i.e. what McCarthy had to give to the MAGAts to get their votes.  so, new scenario:

1. Enough MAGAts get on board with McCarthy and he's elected speaker.
2. House moves on to voting on the rules, which contain clauses by the non-MAGAt GOPers and the Dems to exclude some/all MAGAts from committees.
3. per McCarthy's giveaway, a/some/all MAGAts call for a vote of no-confidence in the Speaker
3. all 212 Dems, plus at least 6 MAGAts, vote "NEXT!"
4. we're right back where we are now, except no Kevin.  eventually someone emerges with the gavel.
5. go back to step 1.

how are those clowns going to pass anything over the next 2 years. other than gas?

I honestly think they did the math wrong and that present was good enough.  This is so funny.

I read she may run for Senate to replace Feinstein.

I would prefer Schiff.

At not point we’re they within 7 feet of each other nor did it look like anyone was going to hit someone. Rogers said something he shouldn’t and someone literally covered his mouth and redirected him away. He wasn’t advancing on Gaetz menacingly or anything. This is so overblown.

I believe a finger was pointed.
Yes, I talk with my hands too. If a teacher wags a finger at a misbehaving child, are they threatening to punch them?
