You know I saw that this morning bit didn't think it was worth posting....I forgot we had a toonie on the board.

For the good of professional football I hope his next team is called "The Dog and Duck" or some other merseyside pub team.

Yet more proof they have no interest in the long-term development of a team buying an aging player like that. He just wants to buy the CL then he'll go do something else.

I was talking more about the russian.

Dr. Phil's credentials don't impress me. I could coach Brasil to a world cup and how much silverware did he bring to Portugal?

Oh.  I see.

I'd prefer Huddink over Scolari anyway, but I'll take either for the US.

the winner of this Euro was Cruyff. The midfield of Spain was made out of players (Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc) that grew up seeing Barcelona playing in the nineties, passing the ball all the time, even short passes in the corner kicks (sometimes even going back to the goalkeeper to start a new play). glad for Spain, although far from buying the red t-shirt and celebrating all night long.

They could also have been watching Manchester United these past few years, so I don't think 90's Barca are exclusive to that style. And to a lesser degree Arsenal, but they take it too far by trying to pass the ball all the way into the goal. Long-ball teams like Chelski will always get outplayed in the longrun.

The Irish love the EPL...just not the English!

The big teams in Ireland are ManU, Liverpool and probably these days Sunderland. Chelski are johnny-come-latelys. Arseholes have a so-so following. Leeds have a bit of a following too.

As for the English national team, you'll never get a bite out of me beacause I happen to agree they're they biggest underachievers in international footie.

the Irish have always been big supporters of the English and Scottish leagues, mainly because all our good players end up there....after a brief childhood flirtation with Notts Forest I formally switched by allegiance to Man U in 1981 when they signed Frank Stapelton from Arsenal for the then princely sun 900,000 pounds and a starting salary of 2 grand a week!
