so why have spain over if you cant field your a team?

That's a completely different question and you'll have to ask US soccer, but I know exactly why they fielded the team they did.  With MLS playing that weekend and the Gold Cup starting in 3 days after the match, I was not the slightest bit surprised at the line up.  Nor was I surprised by the result.

actually thats the same question

in fairness tevez led league in scoring and led man city to the FA Cup title

Just a quick correction in you choice of title and to point out that Berbatov was tied with Tevez, and he'll probably never play for United again, so I'm not sure what leading the league in goals really means anymore.

No problem - I read them differently.

I read "why bother playing the world champs without your a team?" as questioning the lineup choice.

I read "so why have spain over if you cant field your a team?" as what you intended with the first question, and agree with you.

When I saw the lineups, I didn't bother watching and I was glad as hell I wasn't one of the 60,000 schmucks in the stands who paid good money to see that drivel.

the title meant as in "a title..something they have not won in decades"...

you cant take that away from tevez though you will i'm sure

i remember when tevez went to man city you all said he'd never win anything at man city

you were wrong.

i can agree that tevez now acts consistently like an idiot but this year again confirmed that no matter where he plays he is a winner... dont diminish it.

the title = premier league

a title= FA Cup or Carling Cup

I will go back see if I actually said we wouldn't win anything or if I said he would win the league.

Not a bad squad when your bench warmer is a league leading goal scorer!!! And I don't mean old scarneck.

you could still have spain over, sell 60k, and take it seriously..

they wasted a nice opportunity and let down the americans who bought tickets

OK, I went back and did my research.  Assuming Tevez returns to England this offseason despite promising to never set foot in Manchester again....

Thank you for reminding me.  The Community Shield.....another competition Carlos Tevez will likely never play in again.

He will play in the Community Shield by virtue of having won the FA Cup, though I'm sure he'd rather have won the league.

Great, but he'll never play in a Champions League game, let alone a Final so long as he's at City.

He has yet to play in a Champions League game, let alone a final as I predicted.  If he returns this season he'll get the first one done, but still not the second.

I honestly find it hard to understand why ManU people would hate on Tevez because anyone who watched him play saw firsthand his desire and the fact that he left it all on the pitch.

Remember when you said that?  Care to compare that with this new statement of yours?

i think the dumb ones are man city not tevez..he wants to leave..its been clear for over a year!!

having said that its been dissapointing to see th continues lack of professionalism..have lost my respect 4 him

sure..but i think you guys should eat some humble pie first! keep in mind i cant type too well.

Tevez led Man City to a title and they will be in the Champions L...
there are two different issues to me: his footballing skills and the person off the pitch... I was correct about his footballing skills (although in a weird twist not enough in my view for him to get callup to arg national side as there is not space) and his being a winner..I did not appreciate that the person was a bit less than i thought...probably because i was reading too much the argentine papers..since then things in his personal life and professional life off the pitch have led me to change my opinion..maybe i was a bit late to see things..

it is a fine line between on the pitch and professional life off the pitch.. but the other alternative is just to say "professional" and then he's a zero...and yet he scored a ton of goals and led man city to a title, CL..thats got to count for something... i THINK HIS RECORD AS A WINNER IS UNCHALLENGED unless all you care about is the CL

multiple titled with boca including libertadores and intercontinental cup over winner of cl (real i think)
titles with brazil club corinthians
almost singlehandedly kept westham in premier
titles with man u including cl
title with ma city that had not won in decades..
olympic gold (ok thats pushing it..)

and my main point was when people said that after leaving man u he'd never win anything well that he was a winner and you couldn't just discount that.. no matter what you think about the way he handles contract negotiations/personal life/rabble rousing.

the person though has been a dissapointmet.....much like most argentines...sad.

Here's a new Argentine classic from my mens league last night.

He wouldn't shut his yap, whining complaining and challenging every call I made. (even the corrrect ones  ;) ) Basically being his usual self. I carded him just before half time because frankly he was giving me a headache....

"You can't card me. I'm the captain. You can't card captains What's the card for anyway?"
"Dissent"
"Dissent? There's no such thing as dissent. You make stuff up. You're the worst referee to ever walk on a soccer field"
"Very nice, thank you for the input. Remember, you're still on a yellow"

Never heard a peep from him for the rest of the game. How can someone who's played the game for all his life (evidently) be so ignorant of the laws of the game? It really is unbelievable.
