Jimmy Spencer punched Kurt Busch last season before Busch even got out of his car, otherwise Busch might have thrown punches back.  Spencer was fined $25,000 and suspended for a race.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightes smackie....I think the difference is they are 'told' they are #1 from the beginning, even when they're not. Hell, they don't even have losing teams in childrens sports anymore in some schools.
 
 Remember I did say "for the most part" there are plenty of true professionals in American sports, Michael Jordan comes to mind. Why else would the poor bloke have got himself involved with a franchise like the Wizards for crying out loud? But "generally speaking", runny-catchy and bouncey-nettie players tend to be much more flamboyant and arrogant than any European player of any sport. Hockey players are much more low-key but that's because the majority are either Canadian or European.

    And yes, there is some nudging that goes on in NASCAR. But it's typically limited to shorter, slower tracks where a crash would unlikely cause injury to a driver. And the nudging is typically minor enough to throw off the opponents car just enough to allow a pass, without causing him to lose control of the car.

Well that was Fergie and Coton talking about why they have 3 Americans in the United franchise. For every one Nicky Butt, there are 10, maybe 20 Luis Saha's who will cry until their club stops blocking a purcahse by United.

 Recent cases of bad behavior by NASCAR competitors:
 
  Martinsville, Va., April 13, 2002: NASCAR officials call Kevin Harvick into the pits for rough driving during a Craftsman Truck Series race. After arguing with officials, Harvick is "parked" (suspended) for the following day's Winston Cup race.
 
  Indianapolis, Aug. 4, 2002: Jimmy Spencer knocks Kurt Busch into the wall, and Tony Stewart shoves a photographer in the garage area. Stewart is fined $10,000 by NASCAR and $50,000 by sponsor The Home Depot.
 
  Brooklyn, Mich., Aug. 17, 2003: Spencer punches Busch in the face after an on-track run-in. Spencer is suspended for one race and fined $25,000. Evidence surfaces showing Busch provoked Spencer.
 
  Bristol, Tenn., Aug. 23, 2003: Busch bumps Tennessee native Sterling Marlin's car, wins the race and is booed.
 
  Richmond, Va., Sept. 6, 2003: Harvick and his crew confront Ricky Rudd after Rudd spins out Harvick in the closing laps of the race. Two crew members are suspended for one race, and NASCAR hands out $62,500 in fines.

Actually, he wasn't pulling off his "famous thuggish acts."  He was blocking so his son (Jr.) and teammate (Waltrip) could race to the finish and that is why he is dead.

True. I wasn't a NASCAR fan in 1995, so was unaware of those incidents. And I forgot about the Busch/Spencer fiasco. And Stewart's behaviour (punching a photographer), while indeed thuggish, wasn't part of the race action. More akin to a hockey player punching a member of the media. Maybe Sean Penn could play Stewart in the movie.

I knew the comment came from Fergie....and I said it doesn't surprise me because you have great interest in sports, and therefore strong opinions like myself....a healthy discussion is the end result.

 but if he's some  asshole jerkwad who cant catch a groundball and cost his team their first world series in almost 75 years then yes, unfortunately he wouldve cost his team thier winning bonus, and cost him the rest of his career and a whole lot of people's happiness and sanity, not to mention another god knows how many years worth of people wishing that he'd never been born.

I don't like French footballers, generally, or french people for that matter, but United needs to create more offensive chances and I think he can do that.  With Ole's future up in the air, I think Saha was a better move than Viduka would have been, though I would rather root for Viduka.
