That statement was just plain idiotic.

I respect Dylan as an artist but he is not my cup of tea.  Never owned a Dylan album, probably never will.  And while I will be the first one to say that the 9:30 is the absolute best place to see a legendary artist of that caliber (I've seen B.B. King, James Brown, Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash at the Club, among others, and I think the 9:30 does all of us huge favors by booking the real legends), I find it hard to get excited about an artist I personally don't like.  I'm not saying that the 9:30 has to book around my tastes... only that I would be pretty excited to have a surprise Friday night show be someone I'd be glad  to see.

It's now unofficially official. No surprise there. No price listed as of yet though.

Well, the official email says 7pm for doors.

Is there an opener? Or would Bob being going on at 8pm?

I'm hoping to make a late show (11pm) somewhere else and wondering if I could pull both off.

The big news is that there's a presale tomorrow (Thursday) -- so no waiting in line outside the club!!  What's so funny is that I just saw the Victoria's Secret commercial four mintues ago....surreal.

 Surprise! At the Club!

Some things are just too bizarre to believe: for example, Bob Dylan in a Victoria's Secret commercial. Or better yet: Bob Dylan playing a surprise show at the 9:30 Club. Or best of all: a Dylan presale just for 9:30 Club email subscribers. We swear this is no April Fool's hoax.

 BOB DYLAN and his band
 Friday, April 2
 7pm Doors

Was it necessary to post the password?

Do you think that was wrong?  I've seen passwords up, and traffic here isn't huge, plus there's a two ticket limit.  If you think it's wrong, I'll take it down.  Really -- no skin off my nose....

 -edit-

So that was WEIRD.  I  just tried to edit my message above, and I got it all as editable, but the bottom five lines with the link and password were completely mising.  I re-posted, now they're gone.  Maybe concurrent to my editing an administrator was editing?

Sorry, truly, if I did something wrong.

In this case I think that posting the password defeats the advantages of being on the clubs email announcement list.  Seeing as there are 5000+ registered forum members, there are either a lot of lurkers or people who don't bother coming back.

If the forumites feel strongly that the password be publically available here then speak up.  Otherwise I'll just edit it out.

Sorry Kosmo -- so many forum regulars have been unable again and again to subscribe to the email.  And I never think of lurkers, if you asked me I'd say there are 50 people here.....

I was taking it off just as you were.  Thanks.

We do, by the way, post passwords to other presales here....but like selling Black Cat tix, this *is* the 9:30 Club forum...

PS, I never thought one of *my* posts would be edited by an administrator!  I'm so full of shame~!   ;)

no need to apologize... seeing as its Dylan and scapling his tickets is big business i feel the less public the password is the better.  it's not to say that the email isn't being forwarded around lickety split.  but it only takes a second to register.

To register for the email?  While that may be true, it takes eleven registrations before one sticks....

i don't have a problem with forumites privately sharing the password amongst themselves, thats what pm is for. and i realize other presales passwords are posted here, but I and others may feel Dylan is a special case.  For instance I sure would have liked to have gotten the Prince presale info, without having to join the fanclub.

i realize that numerous people have complained about not getting the email... and several more will probably be whining about tomorrow... but email lists aren't perfect sometimes.

I agree with you, Kosmo -- I shouldn't have posted it.  I did because of the email situation, but enough of us get it and end up sharing the info via P.M.  You're right, I tried to take the info down myself.  also, I didn't think this one through well because (1) it's not a show I'll be clamoring for tickets to, and (2) there was so much buzz I got all excited when I saw the email.....  You're the voice of reason, I hear ya.    :)
