These local record shops give you an analog break from a digital world

Also, looking to upgrade my current cartridge (AT91R) if anyone has any recommendations.

Very happy with my AT440MLB.

Would love to hear what others are using.  I have a Shure M97xE waiting for when the AT kicks it.

So what are some of the gems in everyone's collection? Anything in particular that collectors go nuts for?

^ so that seems very off-brand comment from Bearman, has someone taken his account?

Haha...I've been spending too much time on Discogs. It's amazing how much value certain things have. I have the Mexican pressing of "Favourite Worst Nightmare" by Arctic Monkeys, and I can't even recall how I acquired it, but it's worth a stupid amount of money for something I paid probably less than $10 for.

off the top of my head i have a couple rare White Stripes 45s and their box to hold 45s in which was a one point in the top 5 of their rarities

i also have the Christian Marclay "Record Without a Cover" which  can go for a hefty price... mine of course is not in a mint condition :p

part of thinks this belongs in a library as it's considered a work of art..

my head hurts to think about trying to value my collection

I found a really nice copy of the misprint version of the first Damned LP with the photo of Eddie and the Hotrods on the back instead of the Damned. That seems to go for a chunk of change and I got a bargain on mine.

One of my favorites (though not vinyl) is a Catherine Wheel single where they destroyed a bunch of the copies, and then it never got released.

It's amazing how many things I've bought lately that have already gone up in value, like the special pressing of Kid Amnesia that Radiohead did on cream vinyl.

value is a funny thing
it's only worth what someone will pay for it

If you sell it yourself you do the best, but the buyers can't rate you on credibility
if you go to sell to a record buy, you'll be lucky to get 40% of the 'value'

Some places will give you a REALLY nice trade-in value. Extended Play in Rehoboth is particularly generous and they have a cool collection of stuff.

While it belongs to a family member, I once had custody of a poorly peeled butcher cover. That's as close as I get to fame and fortune.

My most valued records are signed LPs I got signed myself or bought signed and am sure are legit

I really don’t sit on $500 LPs…I once sold a rare blue note (Tina Brooks - True Blue) for $2000…that was about 16 years ago….so that’s got to be the one most valuable

I sold maybe ten others for $500-$800.

Including two copies of the White Stripes Icky Thump Vault 1 mono
