Tuesday - Of Montreal at Sonar.  Thinking of skipping it since I am seeing them at Bonnaroo anyway this year, but I do have a ticket.

how was the cloud cult show?
Very good.  I didnt see any of the openers, but Cloud Cult were great as always.  They played a set featuring songs from across their back catalouge.  Only had one painter this time.  Sound was great, the best i have heard them sound,  though i have only seen them at their last Rock and Roll Hotel and Black Cat gigs before this one.

Also, the place was packed at the end of Margots set (when i walked in).  I got towards the front to watch CC.  by the time i headed towards the back, at the end of the show, the place was half empty...

Guess people just wanted some so and so action.  Or they were filtering out throughout, i didnt pay attention.  If you want the set list, i can post it later, I wrote it up on my phone.

Show score based on Cloud Cult alone = A+ Great Job!

that's understandable since Margot > Cloud Cult. I would have gone but the Beirut show ended at 10:20 and Margot's set was at 10:30...

that's understandable since Margot > Cloud Cult.
My math works out the exact opposite with Cloud Cult > Margot (in musical output and not based upon who is more popular).  But thats just my taste.  I will say i do kind of wish i would have came a little earlier.  Margots last two songs sounded really good and i wouldnt have minded seeing a little more.

Don't mind Joe. He just says things like that in an attempt to garner more scenester cred. ;)

The same thing with the crowd emptying out happened during the '07 BC Cloud Cult show I saw.

Painful.
Like physically painful.
Two songs in, I was whimpering like a wounded
puppy and begging  ixkpd-bk to let me go back to the backbar but he held me against the rail and wouldn't budge.

She did climb over to the barricade and straddle my face during her "I kissed a girl" song though which helped the healing process somewhat. Still, I'll probably have flashbacks from that horrid music like Vietnam vets do from war for years to come.

let's just say I'm not a fan of the last Margot album. They did have some good quality songs on the prior release...

No one seeing Great Lake Swimmers tonite at the Black Cat (backstage)? I'm surprised they're playing backstage. They're playing much larger venues elsewhere. No wonder it sold out in advance. RnRH might have been a better venue.
