Lots of pontificating...but it wasn't all bad. I think for the 2 hours and 20 minutes he played, there was about 90 minutes worth of music. I think if you go into it with that mindset, it's not that bad because a lot of what he says is either funny or there's a point to it. I'd have to say that if he would have limited the chatter by about 15 minutes or so, it would have been a pretty phenomenal show. Nice setlist too.

I think that's a fair comment. I imagine his visit to the Creation Museum and Christine O'Donnell's election just gave him too much material for the last show of the tour.

Lots of awesome shows this weekend.

2+ hours of Broken Social Scene was really great. They were playing a good mix of early and new stuff. No leaving for an encore so they didnt waste any time and could play as much music as possible. Kevin mentioned something about playing even louder than was permitted and hed gladly pay the fine! Hoping Pavement does the same. Was one of the best crowds I had seen in a long time at Summerstage.

Superchunk played to a totally enthusiastic out-of-control crowd last night. They commented how much more rowdy the Williamsburg crowd was than the prior nights show at Bowery. Todd Barry opened the show. Loved Wild Nothing.

This week:

Tonight: Klaxons
Tomorrow: Pavement
Wed: Pavement
Thurs: Pavement
Fri: fly down to B'more (hoping to get into Edward Sharpe if time is on my side and its not sold out)
Sat: VFest
Sun: Hoping for no shows......

BSS setlist:
1.KC Accidental
2.Texico Bitches
3.Shoreline (7/4)
4.Forced to Love
5.Fire Eye'd Boy
6.All to All
7.Stars and Sons
8.World Sick
9.Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl
10.Hotel
11.Art House Director
12.Sweetest Kill
13.Guilty Cubicles
14.Lover's Spit
15.Cause=Time
16.Superconnected
17.Romance to the Grave
18.Ungrateful Little Father
19.Meet Me in the Basement
Encore:
20.Looks Just Like the Sun
21.Water in Hell
22.Pacific Theme
23.Chase Scene
24.Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day)

Magma will definitely be filed under: best shows ever. It was way intense and definitely a once in a lifetime experience...but 2 hours may be too much for most people for the type of music that they play....lol.

It's hard to believe anyone left that theater without a blown mind.

Can't believe that you wouldn't be at the Amusement Parks On Fire show instead. That one really bugs me having to miss them. Wonder how the show went? Have always heard that they put on a good live show.

I was thinking about the APOF show too.  I didnt end up doing anything, since FreeFest was today and i wanted to relax at home last night.

Flying to LA to see John Cale perform Paris 1919 with the UCLA orchestra. Ben Gibbard and Mark Lanegan are going to be in the band too. Not a death cab fan, but it's still cool.

Time to bump my swans thread back up.

Wish I could muster up the motivation to go to Teenage Fanclub/The Clean tomorrow in NY.

Between James, Jason and the Scorchers, and Teenage Fanclub, it's quite a banner week for nostalgia shows. I know each of these acts have released decent to good new albums of late, but isn't everybody hoping for the old stuff.

Life demands that i limit myself to one of these shows. Jason, don't make me regret my decision.
