did Florence wail or sing?

Weird question to ask.  Flrorece has an amazing voice.  You must be thinking of some other singer.

Still on pace for the six shows. Switched out Comet for Dementia and Hope Trails in some basement in Frederick. First Frederick show for me ever I think?
Dementia and Hope Trails does the Post-rock thing solo better than 95% of the full post-rock bands everyone gushes about.
Incredible set, as always.

The claims of Grizzly Bear being a snoozefest are bunk. I'd never seen them before, but last nights show was awesome.

It was over three years ago when I last saw them.
So maybe they are better?
But a Make-Up show is a raucous party.
So compared to them, most indie rock bands will come off snoozy.

I am tempted to see either the Wallflowers or Corin Tucker who are playing at the same time at the Black Cat...

They were a snoozefest back in 2009. People who saw them Thursday enjoyed it.

And go with Corin Tucker.

my thinking:

i don't know.. I've seen Corin Tucker at least five times with Sleater going back to their early shows at the Black Cat (97 or so)....

Never seen the Wallflowers... I loved the first two Wallflowers records but hated the third and stopped listening..so that was a very long time ago.. what do the Wallflowers have going for them.. well Jakob DYLAN..yeah, the son of my favorite musician..his voice kind of sounds a little like Bob's..... also Jack Irons, I think, on drums... no slouch.. .I could get him to sign my Vitalogy LP..its something..

On the other hand I've heard good things about corin tucker's new album.. her show costs less.. and I've missed her since I last saw Sleater

it will probably be a game time decision IF i decide to go based on whether tickets are still available..

I realize the Wallflowers are about as hip as macaroni and cheese but I don't care.

Loved the Dirty Three.  It'd been way too long since I saw them (1997 and 2003).  Also, they need to leave the keyboard at home.

Do they still have all the awesome intros to their songs?  Best between song banter ever.

Yes! Warren Ellis is a funny motherfucker.
Magik Markers were great, too. Weirdest possible setting in which to see them.
That was a fun and exhausting six nights.
Looking forward to sleeping a full two.

Native Cats Wednesday
Saint Vitus/Weedeater/Sourvein Thursday
Sonic Circuits early evening show Friday
Maybe Afghan Whigs or David J Friday night
Sonic Circuits day show Saturday and Sunday.
Possibly something else Saturday night.

Wish I could afford the Sonic Circuits nightcaps.
