Very cool space. It is as if a piece of Baltimore found its way down to DC. Killsaly, you would love it. Apparently it has been active for years. Cigarette were excellent but this Puerto Rican band they played with, Fantasmes, were incredible. Minimal Wooden Shjipsesque psych done really well. Actually had the crowd getting down really hard which near impossible in DC.

I am listening to them on bandcamp now and really dig them.  They are just what i needed to listen to while working today.

People on this board do not like popular bands and they don't like bands that play DIY venues.  It appears the only thing they like is classic rock. or bands that mimic classic rock (MMJ).

or manufactured bullshit.

Like the stuff pitchfork praises.

lol, people read pitchfork still.

EDIT: Possibly Araabmuzik tonight.

anyone catch Roky Erickson earlier this week at RNR? Pretty fun show. His voice may be aging but his band sounded great

I'm surely not the only person on the board going to Conor Oberst/Daniel Johnston tonight, right?

Is he not cool anymore?

I saw Roky at Ottobar the night before. Good setlist of classic songs. His band was indeed really good. I'd say the tone of Roky's guitar was amazing but he only plays the opening bars to songs then the 2 other guys take over. And yeah, his voice is very gruff n' bluesy. It was nice to see him smiling and having a good time however.

I saw it.  I thought the band was just ok.  Rhythm section seemed to disappear at times.  The dude with the hat singing in the back was Rocky's son.

Not like a virtuoso performance or anything, but good setlist.  More darshan than entertainment.

Rocky did seem much more self assured and comfortable than when I saw him with Okkervil River.

I waiting to see who would blink first..... ;D

It was really good... these guys deserve a lot more than they've gotten.. I was not familiar with one song but was super impressed.
