On a much smaller scale, of course. Obviously these are very young musicians trying to find their way in the jammy/psychedelic music scene. For the most part it felt very improvisatory/jazzy with some Meat Puppets thrown in as opposed to the folkier Grateful Dead orientation. Just wondering...
Yeah... I get it, can't compare somewhat of a garage band to a band playing arenas... but at any rate, didn't get a Phish vibe from them at all other than the fact that their songs were long.
I'm admittedly not familiar with their catalog, but every song seemed like an improv odyssey and they could probably benefit with a bit better vocals and a few polished five minute rockers. At any rate, I'd see them again, but I think they're more in the camp of what you said around Meat Puppets/Yo La Tengo/Ryley Walker/Chris Forsyth/Steve Gunn vs a hippie jamband.
