Just kidding. Got rid of my ticket. Too cold and I want to watch Santa Clause 3 with the kids
Interpol tomorrow
Managed to go all 3 nights, thanks to a kind friend who hooked me up. All three were great and special for different reasons. Night 1 might be my favorite, but night 2 had a bunch of great songs not played either night, and night 3 was a really solid performance. Beautiful lighting, great sound, and positive vibes all around.
As an aside, I had a lot of emotional moments thanks to conversations I had with folks over the last few evenings, and also because of Interpol's stellar performances. I'm going to take a moment to highlight the hard work, dedication, and commitment that the crew put into making each show something special. A huge part of that is what the 9:30 does to ensure that happens. Consummate professionalism. They treat the band and crew with respect and enable them to do their work to make each night special. It is so easy to take for granted, but that's why after decades some of these folks are still doing what they're doing. They put their hearts and souls into their jobs, and it isn't easy work. Also, I couldn't help but get a little misty thinking of some of the people I've known at the 9:30 over the years who aren't with us anymore. I've got many, many memories attached to the space and the last few nights were reminders of how much fun I've had, how many memorable things I've seen, but how grateful I am for the friends I've made and people I've met. So many good ones are still with us, and I'm thankful for that. Really loved these shows and glad I got to see them. It's a good time of year to reflect on what makes concerts special, and the value they have given to my life. For me it's far more than just for the fun of seeing a show.
