Back to Days of SPEED
I find it hard to get through and one dimesional in and of itself.....
I prefer the songs as they were originally recorded. Saying that I am sure it will come across really well live, either way.
He does have a band though on tour, right?

http://paulweller.com/live/diary2002.shtml[/url]
The FIRST SHOW of the US Tour was fantastic to say the least. TOP GIG! PAUL seemed really up for it! Some fantastic suprises in the setlist as well. The small theatre was all seated, but a number of us stood up the whole time... I don't understand the people who sit down in front. Get UP get UP!!!
Unfortunately, for me, I didn't get the chance to say hi to John as he passed by, or Paul (who I had just missed-as I was around the OTHER side of the theatre) but John Looks great, it looked as though the band were well rested and relaxed going into the performance. As ever, PAUL looked brilliant and healthy.
I was one of a few earlybirds that got into the soundcheck!!! PAUL did @ 10 warm-up tunes, one being Big Bird!!! Here's that setlist as I recall it:
SOUNDCHECK (Not in complete/proper order):
Impromtu- warmup jam
Big Bird
Peacock Suit
Can You Heal Us (Holyman) partial
Suze's Room
Broken Stones
Changingman
Picking Up Sticks
Holyman - (again with proper sound adjustment on PAUL's vocal).
Who Brings Joy
Bagman
- Here's the setlist from the performance-
SAN DIEGO- Sprekles Theatre-06-02-03 SETLIST:
Out Of The Sinking
Porcelain Gods
A Bullet For Everyone
1 X 1
It's Written In The Stars
Leafy Mysteries
This Is No Time
Up In Suze's Room
Sunflower
In The Crowd
Broken Stones
Long Hot Summer
Bagman
Who Brings Joy
Tales From The Riverbank
That's Entertainment
All Good Books
Can You Heal Us (Holyman)
Foot Of The Mountain
Into Tomorrow
Changingman
A Town Called Malice
Standing Out In The Universe
Encore:
Wildwood
Woodcutter's Son

Hey. I hope the show's still on. It seems to be. I have a general gripe that makes me look like an old fart, but so be it...
What's up with 9:30 adding two acts at the last minute to the bill for weekday shows? Nobody but students can stay out that late on weeknights, and I don't think there will be that many of them there tonight. Old fogie fans of PW like me have to work the next day, hire a babysitter (who has to go to school tomorrow, I think), etc.
Anyway, I don't see how catering exclusively to vampires helps the bottom line.

Yeah, I thought of that. I'm not exactly placing the blame on the club, just whoever. Still, what is advertised is just PW for weeks, then two days before the show, it is revealed that there are two opening acts.
Anyway, I've been to plenty of shows midweek that, IMHO, would've made the club more money from alcohol if the showtime was earlier, because people with jobs don't usually continue to drink after midnight on a weekday, but would do so if the show only lasted till, say, 11.
Actually, 9:30 HAS made some effort in that area, which I applaud.
