Picked up a nice suit while in NYC that needs a little tailoring... Any recommendations?  Preferable  DC or nearby Maryland.

I'd like to know an actual tailor, too. I've gotten alterations done at Cupid Cleaners (which is next to the Uptown Bakers off Washington Blvd in Arlington...also next to Casual Adventure. They've hemmed pants well and fixed the lining on a blazer I got at a thrift store. I'd look for a good tailor either downtown or capitol hill...wherever there are lawyers or congress people.

On Wisconsin Ave in G'Town....just further down than the 'murder starbucks' there's two tailors literally next door to each other. One is called English Tailors or something very similar. One of the tailors used to play in the local ska band "Spitfire somethingorother"

kosmo -- a few years ago i had a suit altered at geoffrey lewis ltd., which is on h street between 14th and 15th (if memory serves).  it was pretty pricey, but they did a fabulous job.

call nordstrom or brooks brothers and ask who they recommend when their own inhouse tailors are laden with work and they need to outsource the tailoring. jos.a. bank is another option as well.
