But if I remember correctly, isn't Perry Ferrell back on board? If so, I'd at least give it a chance of being good.

That website is reportedly owned by Sanctuary Records Group -- home to a lot of bands past their primes.
Styx
Dokken
Pet Shop Boys
W.A.S.P
Ministry
Tesla
Blue Oyster Cult
Sanctuary is supposed to put out the new Morrissey album also.
I don't know how they would have gotten the name from Perry Ferrell. He did consider doing it last year, but dropped out after they couldn't get a headliner. There's also a rumor that Janes Addiction will release an album this spring.
Either way, could a new Lollapalooza live up to the old ones? Here are SECOND stage acts from 1994:
The Flaming Lips
The Verve
The Boo Radleys
The Frogs
Guided By Voices
Lambchop
Girls Against Boys
Rollerskate Skinny
Palace Songs
Stereolab
FU-Schnickens
The Pharcyde
Shudder To Think
Lucious Jackson
King Kong
Charlie Hunter Trio
Shonen Knife
Blast Off Country Style
Souls Of Mischief
Smashing Pumpkins
Green Day
Cypress Hill
Black Crowes
L7

Do you think that they could get enough decent acts to fill the FIRST stage this year?
I'm more in favor of bringing some Glastonbury / Reading / T in the Park - type festivals to the U.S.

eh, the new Ministry isn't so bad...still not as great as their early stuff (twitch, tlorah) however better than their last anyway.
Anyway, would be interesting to see what type of lineup they come up with...hopefully something better than Metallica headlining it..
http://www.readingfestival.com/pages/index.asp
http://bumbershoot.com/allartists.html
The band listings for the two shows are quite different, don't think something like Reading would be possible here.

The only way I'd go is if they did some kind of lineup similar to Coachella last year. My own personal dream list would feature bands like Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey, Air, Travis, Interpol, Aphex Twin, Social Distortion, maybe someone like New Order or Radiohead to headline.

I remember seeing the Old 97's about 6 or 7 years ago and hearing Rhett complain about having just come off the Lolapaloser Tour, playing the second stage, and having Korn fans throwing shit at them.

Coachella last year had some of the best line-ups I have ever seen at a festival anywhere... Charlatans, Bjork, Chemical Brothers, Foo Fighters, QOTSA, Strokes, etc etc etc..
And of course, the band that makes it all worthwhile... OASIS!!
